Stars on the "moon"
Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 6:01 AM After our wedding, Tina and I went to Las Vegas to go on a "mini-moon". Yeah not a honeymoon...a mini-moon. You see, we did not have enough time between our wedding and our move to PA to really enjoy two weeks on a warm beach in the Caribbean. So we spent 4 nights in Sin City. I really wanted to go to the Grand Canyon and we booked a trip with Grand Adventures. They are a small group (8 people/tour) operator that really know how give a 13 hour tour to the Grand Canyon. Over the next couple days, I will post some pictures from the trip.
The first one, was not even from the grand vistas of the Canyon. We stopped in Seligman, which was one of the towns on Route 66 that turned into a ghost town after the Interstate 40 bypassed the town. HMMMM....Sound familiar? Well according to the Chief Creative Officer at Pixar, the story of Cars is loosely based on the history of Seligman.
I loved all the old relics from the 50s, but this photo of the Texaco sign was pretty lucky. I set my aperture to F20 to get a crazy looking star pattern from the sun, while the red star on the sign provides a similar subject.
